I love it when a translation draws out the beauty and gentleness of a God who protects us against the violence of the world:
"Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord." (ESV)
"Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust in the Lord." (NLT)
"An evil person suffers much pain, but the Lord's faithfulness overwhelms the one who trusts in Him." (NET)
"Many are the torments of the ungodly, but unfailing love enfolds him who trusts in the Lord." (NEV)
